One must know in cue making from where to get the finest quality wood, how to select the wood and how to store them etc. One must know how the wood, metal, synthetics and inlay materials in the cue will interact; how will the cue take a finish; how will the cues as a whole and in parts- will react to the changes in temperature and humidity. Any shortcoming in any of the above mentioned areas can seriously impair the durability, structural integrity and the performance of the cues.
In a nutshell one has to find and use finest quality materials available for making Cues. After all one cannot make a high quality cue out of low and inferior quality raw materials.
